Description

Be prepared for the uneventful...
For about a week around December 2 - 9 comet 12P/ Pons-Brooks flew by the bright star Vega and could be imaged in the same field of view as my telescope and camera.  (see here for the correctly positioned stacked image)

This animation attempts to discern any motion within the comet itself over a one hour period (at the behest of and thanks to Todd B -  tbneao).

The animation is comprised of three sections.

The first segment, the wide field view of 1.9d x 1.05d using a Celestron C14 hyperstar and an APS-c sized sensor.

The second section centers on the comet at full resolution as it drifts across the stars.  Lastly, the third section, has the stars removed using StarXterminator leaving strange optical reflections and stellar removal artifacts as well as "just" the comet.

No other enhancements were made besides the simple standard calibration methods, debayering and histogram stretch to the 127 frames of 30 seconds each.

I'll leave it up to the viewer to detect any movement inside the central region.
